As an experienced Mac and WIndows user, when starting in Rails development, I first used VSCode and found the experience underwhelming and its UI ethic confusing.
IMHO, Microsoft does not understand user interface design—they tack on at the end, instead of UI informing the design.
RubyMine, while less than ideal, has a superior UI.
